-
The toolkit includes the occasional resource that is only relevant for the SE region, but the majority only references SE-based links/resources as examples. Many of these examples could be from anywhere in the country.
The sections that will definitely not be relevant for providers in other regions are the parts that list key contacts/web-links in parts of the SE, e.g. Jobcentre plus and Probation contacts and IAG (Nextstep). For these items, providers will need to follow the more general links and locate their local contacts.
In terms of context, it will be helpful for providers in all regions (including the SE) to be aware of any specific local developments with regards to employability/integrated employment and skills (IES). For example, where the trial sites are for IES and Skills Accounts, and who is involved.
- How relevant is the PEP Toolkit for providers not funded by LSC ALR?
-
Certain parts of the toolkit will not be relevant if you are not funded through LSC Adult Learner Responsiveness (ALR) funding, these are largely as follows:
- Section 1 - Sub-sections addressing ALR funding - instead providers can consider the same points discussed by reflecting on the funding they do have and related criteria
- Section 2 – Some of the staffing structures and resources discussed are based on larger organisations – smaller providers may need to contextualise this information and base on their own organisational structures
- Section 3 - Recommended PEP qualifications – providers with other funding streams (e.g. not ALR) may not have to deliver qualification-based outcomes as listed on the Learning Aims Database (LAD), therefore they may have different options/more choice such as non-accredited SSC Sector Routeways programmes
- Section 7 - Organisations not funded through the LSC will not have to record learning and progress on the Individual Learner Record (ILR) – instead providers can consider ways that they do/could record/report
- I have a question about PEP that is not covered in the toolkit, where can I get help?
-
If you have a question specific to your organisation that is not covered by the toolkit, please can you ask for advice from your contact at the LSC/your funding organisation.
If you have a general question that is not covered in the toolkit and you think might benefit other organisations as well as yourselves, please email ellena.thompson@lsc.gov.uk. The LSC intends to update the site periodically as appropriate and will add new sections into the toolkit where there is sufficient demand.
- Why was the Toolkit written?
-
The Learning and Skills Council South East (LSC SE) commissioned consultants to write the Toolkit as they wanted to support providers in establishing and delivering PEP in the light of the current economic downturn. They had noticed that there were common themes involved with the successful delivery of PEP, and thought that a Toolkit for providers would be useful in order to help maximise funding and resource - including partnerships open from other organisations such as Jobcentre plus. They particularly wanted providers to focus on the use of ALR funding where possible, as this is a sustainable source of funding for many providers.
